Seems a Red Velvet Mite (Family - Trombidiidae) of some description! I'm really no expert in this field - and there isn't a terrific amount of literature available on their taxonomy.

I'm not sure you'd be able to make a ID from images alone - but if you were interested in the scientific paper which describes the various genera - https://www.publish.csiro.au/ZO/pdf/AJZS123

Sorry Ken, I meant to include that information. It is on a banksia seed cone. From what I have read it could be caused by Eriophyid mites.
