Caps saddle-like to markedly convoluted [false morels]

The fruitbody of a fungus in this sub-group may have a simple saddle-like form, look like a distorted saddle or be highly convoluted, with numerous smooth folds (and so almost brain-like in appearance).  A convoluted cap may be roughly spherical or irregular with one or more protruding lobes.

Various species with such fruitbodies are referred to as false morels.
